Swiss Singers present ‘Alpine Variety’ show and dinner May 3
The event will take place at The Chalet at Oak Shade Grove, 3624 Seaman Road in Oregon, with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. and the variety show beginning at 3 p.m. An authentic Swiss dinner will be served following the performance.
Under the direction of Micah Graber, the show will celebrate both Swiss heritage and American spirit, tying into the national America 250 commemoration marking 250 years since the founding of the United States. The performance will feature a lively mix of musical and entertainment selections in a traditional variety-show format.
Following the show, guests will enjoy a traditional Swiss-style meal featuring beef rouladen — tender slices of beef filled with seasoned ground beef, bacon, onion and carrot, rolled and braised in a rich gravy — along with spätzle and gravy, red cabbage and strudel for dessert. Snacks will be available during the show, and a cash bar will offer alpine coffee and other specialty drinks.
Tickets are $35 for adults and $20 for children under 13, and must be purchased in advance. The ticket deadline is Sunday, April 19. No tickets will be sold at the door. All sales are final. No refunds.
The Toledo Swiss Singers, one of the region’s longest-running cultural groups, continue to celebrate Swiss traditions through music, community events and shared heritage. The Alpine Variety show promises an afternoon of entertainment, fellowship and delicious food in a welcoming Alpine-inspired setting.
About the Singers
The group is part of the North American Swiss Singing Alliance (NASSA), made up of 13 choirs from Canada and the U.S. Singers compete internationally every three years. The Singers were awarded a silver prize at Saengerfest, held in Pittsburgh in June 2024.
The nonprofit organization is also part of the larger German American Festival (GAF) Society, which most people associate with the festival held annually in August. The society consists of seven German-speaking societies. During the festival, the Singers set up and operate the Swiss Cheese Haus, along with the Stein Stossen contest. The GAF Festival draws more than 30,000 people on an average weekend and is the largest ethnic festival in this part of the country.
The Swiss Singers practice Wednesday evenings at 7:00 at Oak Shade Grove from September to May.
